Casey Schreiner is an American author and outdoor journalist, who founded and serves as editor-in-chief of Modern Hiker.com. Launched in 2006, the platform quickly became a leading hiking resource on the West Coast. Prior to his work in outdoor media, Schreiner developed a career in television as a writer, producer, and on-air personality, a role that earned him Emmy nominations and Webby Awards. His transition into outdoor journalism began with a personal blog, where he documented his growing interest in hiking throughout Los Angeles, which eventually led to the creation of Modern Hiker.com. Through Modern Hiker, Schreiner encourages city dwellers, especially in Southern California, to explore nearby natural parks and wilderness areas. The site provides nearly six hundred trail guides covering locations across North America. He has also authored two books: *Day Hiking: Los Angeles*, published in 2016, and *Discovering Griffith Park*, a Los Angeles Times best-selling title in 2020.
