Based in World
As an American expat living in the captivating city of Rome, I've traded the familiar comforts of Chicago and Florida for a life immersed in Italian culture. It all began with what was supposed to be an extended vacation, a "sabbatical" if you will, but fate had other plans. On my very first night in Rome, I fell head over heels for the city, and on the second, I met the woman who would become my wife. It wasn't long before I returned to the States, settled my affairs, and secured a visa to make Rome my permanent home. Now, I spend my days teaching English to the locals, one Roman at a time, and sharing my experiences and insights through my blog, "Rick's Rome." My goal is to help fellow expats and travelers navigate the beautiful chaos of Italian life, offering tips and advice that go beyond the typical tourist experience. I strive to decipher Italian culture for the English-speaking world, delving deeper than the stereotypes to reveal the many reasons why this country continues to inspire dreams. Having once worked as a dentist for 17 years, I understand the importance of a good plan. I apply that to my current life by providing handy guides and resources, often collaborating with famous food bloggers to offer unique perspectives. Whether you're planning a vacation, reconnecting with your roots, or simply seeking to emulate the Italian lifestyle, I'm here to provide everything you need to know.
