I'm David Nikel, a British-Norwegian travel writer and speaker with a passion for Scandinavia and the cruise industry. My journey into travel writing began unexpectedly in 2011 when I moved to Norway from England, initially lured by the ICT industry. However, the breathtaking landscapes of fjords, mountains, and the mesmerizing Northern Lights ignited a desire to share my experiences. What started as a personal blog soon evolved into "Life in Norway," a comprehensive platform where I explore Norwegian culture, lifestyle, and travel. As the site grew, so did my opportunities, leading me to embrace freelance writing full-time in 2013. Today, I contribute to Forbes.com, covering Scandinavia and the cruise industry, and I've also authored "Moon Norway" and "Moon Oslo" travel guidebooks. My work has appeared in publications such as the Telegraph, National Geographic, and Finnair's Blue Wings. In addition to writing, I enjoy speaking on cruise ships, sharing my insights and stories about Norway with fellow travelers. Living in Trondheim with my Mexican partner, I've created a unique blend of cultures, navigating daily life with a mix of English, Norwegian, and Spanish.
