Susanna Schrobsdorff is a journalist, editor, and author who explores contemporary social issues in her commentary. As an Editor at Large for TIME, she brings to her role a career marked by significant editorial leadership and global reporting. In November 2020, Schrobsdorff launched TIME's first newsletter, “It's Not Just You: Big-hearted advice for anxious times,” which now reaches over seventeen thousand subscribers on Substack. She publishes personal essays and social commentary on this platform and in TIME magazine and The Washington Post. Her work centers on themes of connection, empathy, and shared human experiences. Her tenure at TIME includes roles as Executive Editor, Senior Vice President, and Assistant Managing Editor, where she exercised strong news judgment and editorial leadership. Schrobsdorff served as the lead editor for TIME's 2017 “Person of the Year: The Silence Breakers” feature on the #metoo movement, which became the magazine's most-viewed Person of the Year. She also authored the TIME cover story on teen depression, “The Kids Are Not Alright,” and an award-winning monthly column. Beyond her writing, she developed strategic partnerships for multimedia projects, including "Finding Home: A Year in the Life of Two Syrian Families," which earned a World Press Photo award. Recognized by the New York Press Club and with three Front Page Awards, Schrobsdorff's international reporting spans five Olympic games and coverage from nine countries during her five years as TIME's Newsdesk Editor in Paris and Brussels, where she continues to reside.
