Author and blogger Tom Ryan writes about outdoor adventure and the profound bond he shares with his canine companions. Before focusing on nature and exploration, Ryan spent over a decade in journalism, where he founded and served as publisher and editor of *The Undertoad*, a newspaper based in Newburyport, Massachusetts. After this period, he relocated to the White Mountains of New Hampshire, shifting his professional and personal focus toward the natural world. From his base in New Hampshire, Ryan, alongside his dog Atticus M. Finch, summited over 450 4,000-foot peaks. This extensive journey formed the foundation for his book, *Following Atticus: Forty-eight High Peaks, One Little Dog, and an Extraordinary Journey*. He also writes a column, "The Adventures of Tom & Atticus," for the *NorthCountry News* and *Mountainside Guide*, and operates a blog of the same title. His work offers contemplative and deeply personal reflections on nature, life, and travel. Their shared journey also led to their induction into the Massachusetts Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA) Hall of Fame, where they received the "Human Hero of the Year Award" as co-recipients for their fundraising efforts for Angell Animal Medical Center.
