Based in World
With a background in plant biology and a PhD to match, I bring a unique, science-based perspective to the world of wine. However, my journey into wine began not in a lab, but online. Back in 2001, I launched "Wine Anorak," one of the UK's first wine blogs, a space where I could share my thoughts and discoveries about wine with anyone who was interested. Over the years, my online presence opened doors to more traditional media. I became the wine columnist for The Sunday Express and have contributed to renowned publications such as The World of Fine Wine, Decanter, and Sommelier Journal. My book, "Wine Science: The Application of Science in Winemaking," allowed me to share my knowledge and passion for wine with a wider audience, earning the Glenfiddich Drink Book of the Year award. While I appreciate the elegance and tradition of the wine world, I'm also excited about the possibilities that social media offers. It's a fantastic way to connect with fellow wine enthusiasts, share ideas, and foster conversations. Being recognized as a top wine influencer is a great honor, and I'm committed to using my platform to promote the enjoyment and understanding of wine. My palate has evolved over the years. I appreciate wines that are elegant, light, and aromatic, especially cool-climate Syrah and balanced Pinot Noir. I'm always on the lookout for wines that tell a story and offer a unique sensory experience. Whether through my writing, my blog, or my social media presence, I aim to make the world of wine more accessible and engaging for everyone.
