About

I'm Monica Stott, a British travel blogger with a serious case of wanderlust. My journey began in 2009 with a one-way ticket to Australia and a battered old campervan. Those two years of backpacking through Asia and Oz ignited a passion that's been burning ever since. Now based back in the UK, I'm constantly seeking out new adventures, both near and far, and sharing them with my readers. The Travel Hack is all about making travel accessible and exciting. I specialize in weekend breaks and affordable adventures, proving that you don't need a fortune to explore the world. I love immersing myself in different cultures, trying new activities, and uncovering hidden gems. I also appreciate the finer things, seeking out stylish hotels and unique restaurants that offer a touch of affordable luxury. My travel style has evolved since becoming a mum to two energetic boys. Family travel is now a big part of my life, but I also cherish those solo "mum-cations" and getaways with friends. For me, "travel hacking" isn't about collecting points; it's about maximizing every travel experience. It's about seeing more, doing more, and getting more for your money. One of my favorite travel memories is driving around Australia in a campervan with my boyfriend for 18 months. We worked on a scuba diving island when funds ran low, but mostly, we camped on beaches, swam in the sea, fished, and learned to surf. It was an incredible experience that taught me the value of simplicity and living in the moment. I'm also a fan of "extreme day trips" – flying to another country for the day just to explore! I've done it in Milan, Bergamo, Lisbon, Amsterdam, and even Reykjavik. It requires careful planning, but it's a fantastic way to experience new places when time is limited. I believe that everyone deserves a holiday, regardless of how long they can get away for.
